E-Learning class |
|
Working with Geodatabases, a 2-day class, is now available online in two different formats.
-
Self-paced version allows you to download the manual and the data. You work through it at your own pace. When you have questions, you can email them to John. For a little extra, the manual and data can be mailed to you.
-
E-learning version takes place within a designated time period and there are online chats. You can interact with John and the other students and see their questions and comments, as well.

Juniper John's Sage Advice |
Another way to save time and effort with ArcToolbox tools is to drag them into the Table of contents, where they become "Tool Layers." This looks like a layer, but runs like a tool. You can see where I created a group layer with several common tools.
When you use a tool layer, the tool remembers all the parameters, so you don't have to completely fill in the dialog box each time you run the tool layer, which speeds operations. The only quirk is that the results of the tool are placed in the table of contents as a layer under the tool with the name "Output Feature Class." The output name used in the tool will be saved as it's source name, and then you can just drag the layer to a different section of the table of contents and rename it.

Layla's Latitudes & Attitudes |
I would rather be laying in the sun at Juniper GIS South. John and Patti went south and left me here with Travis and Kelly to stoke the fire.
I've heard that John is planning a GIS training in Mexico hosted by a conservation group. Maybe some of you can join him there for training, and maybe he'll even take me.
