Examples of Juniper GIS Destination Training Sessions
Close to home in Oregon, we did two classes for the South Slough National Estuary in Charleston, Oregon. GIS training was open to people working for organizations that affected the estuary. Training was held at their visitor center, high in the hills overlooking the estuary.
Juniper GIS South is Mahahual, Mexico. We taught a GIS class here for Global Visions International and some local residents. Focus was on environmental projects and mapping the coastline and the reefs. Dress and environment are casual, but the learning is serious GIS.
This class for the US Fish & Wildlife Service at the Florida Panther Wildlife Refuge. We never saw a panther but the gators got pretty close. The class learned about using GIS for fire modeling to protect habitat.
Society for Conservation GIS - Kenya, 1st Conference
We taught a post conference, advanced GIS class for 30 conference participants who work with environmental groups. Class exercises focused on the Masai Mara Preserve, so we had to do a safari in this preserve after the class.
