ArcGIS Training in Cameroon
Juniper GIS is partnering with the Society for Conservation GIS in to offer intensive ArcGIS training courses this coming July 2016. (The Society for Conservation GIS (SCGIS) exist internationally as ‘a non-profit organisation that contribute significantly in filling needed GIS Capacity gaps. This gap is fulfilled through providing capacity building opportunities, supporting organisations and individuals using GIS and science for the conservation of natural resources and cultural heritage).
ArcGIS Training in Bogota, Colombia
Juniper GIS is partnering with the University of the Andes (Universidad de los Andes) in Bogota, Colombia to offer intensive ArcGIS training this coming January and February.

South Africa GIS training October/November 2014
Juniper GIS is partnering with the South African National Biodiversity Institute and other conservation groups to offer training in ESRI’s ArcGIS software in South Africa this coming October/November. We will offer the one week ArcGIS for Environmental Analysis at the Southern Africa Wildlife College (SAWC) near Kruger National Park October 20-24. We will also teach that class in Cape Town November 10-14, and then teach the one-week Advanced Topics for ArcGIS class in Cape Town November 17-21.
GIS Training in Akumal, Mexico - December 9-14, 2013
Akumal is on the Yucatan coast between Cancun and Tulum. This is a great chance to begin or improve your GIS skills while workin with conservation groups in this area. GIS Training in Russia - September 2013
John taught two classes in Moscow, Russia in September 2013, for SCGIS Russia and Greenpeace Russia. He will also be presenting at the SCGIS Russia conference September 28-29. As part of this special training, John will work with three former SCGIS Scholars to become Authorized Juniper GIS instructors for our “ArcGIS for Environmental Analysis” course. The Instructor Trainees are be Ilona Zhuravleva and Anna Komarova from Russia, and Ela Šegina from Slovenia.
GIS Training in Peru - 2014
Juniper GIS is partnering with the Crees Foundation , which is working to create a realistic long-term model for protecting the bio-diversity of the Amazonian rainforest in Peru. We will be teaching our ArcGIS for Environmental Analysis class at their research center in Manu, Peru sometime in 2014, and will also work with them to develop a base map of the area for researchers to use. This will be an open enrollment class, so if you are interested please keep checking our website or contact us for more details as the planning for the class progresses. The closest airport to Manu is Cusco, Peru, which is also the starting point for trips to Machu Picchu, the famous Inca ruins.
Previous Juniper GIS Destination Training Sessions
ArcGIS Classes on the Big Island, Hawaii
In February 2013, the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park hosted Juniper GIS classes in Kona, HI. The classes were, "Working with ArcGIS for Natural Resources" & "Working with Geodatabases & Linear Referencing."
In the November/December of 2012, Institute of Pacific Islands Forestry, USDA Forest Service hosted the same classes in Hilo, HI and also offered "Advanced ArcGIS: Productivity, Geoprocessing & Analysis." John also did a number of presentations for the local GIS user group at the University of Hawaii, Hilo.
South Slough National Estuary
Close to home in Oregon, we did two classes for the South Slough National Estuary in Charleston, Oregon. GIS training was open to people working for organizations that affected the estuary. Training was held at their visitor center, high in the hills overlooking the estuary.
Juniper GIS South is Mahahual, Mexico. We taught a GIS class here for Global Visions International and some local residents. Focus was on environmental projects and mapping the coastline and the reefs. Dress and environment are casual, but the learning is serious GIS.
Florida Panther Wildlife Refuge
This class for the US Fish & Wildlife Service at the Florida Panther Wildlife Refuge. We never saw a panther but the gators got pretty close. The class learned about using GIS for fire modeling to protect habitat.
Society for Conservation GIS - Kenya, 1st Conference
We taught a post conference, advanced GIS class for 30 conference participants who work with environmental groups. Class exercises focused on the Masai Mara Preserve, so we had to do a safari in this preserve after the class.
